Snoring and Sleep Apnea Treatment OC
If you snore, or know someone who does, you could have a potentially life-threatening health risk called Sleep Apnea. Statistics show that individuals with sleep apnea are 3 times more likely to have a stroke and 10 times more likely to have a heart attack. If you have sleep apnea, you are at risk for:
1.) High blood pressure
2.) Stroke
3.) Dying in your sleep
4.) Heart Attack
5.) Gastric Reflux
6.) Day-time Fatigue / Sleepiness
7.) Depression
8.) Sexual Dysfunction
9.) SLEEPING IN THE OTHER ROOM
There have always been three treatment options available for sleep apnea; throat surgery, CPAP, and Oral Appliances.
- Surgery is painful, often ineffective and should be considered only as a last resort
- CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) Machine has been the most often recommended therapy. It is a gas mask attached to a hose then a pump which holds the airway open by blowing the patient up like a balloon. This device has saved and prolonged the life-span of vast numbers of patients. However, compliance of wearing the device religiously and every night is awful, under 50% in most studies. The device is noisy, does not travel well, needs electricity, and does not fit the life style of many patients.
The rather cumbersome CPAP machine
- Oral appliances such as the SomnoDent MAS™ are worn in the mouth, advancing the lower jaw forward to move the tongue and tonsils off the back of the throat, thus holding the airway open.

The SomnoDent MAS™, a much less intrusive solution.
